Staff

The office team are there to assist with any enquiry you have, be it a new opportunity, an ongoing enquiry, a “Can you cover this load” or a simple “What time is my load due in?” call. Rod and John cover nights in the office with Ken there at weekends, so there is always someone at the end of the phone.

Steven Dixon, Managing Director

After graduating as an Electronic Engineer, Steve joined the business full time in 1990, taking his LGV1 and ‘Hazchem licence’ (Old ADR). After learning the ropes he moved into Operations, then became M.D. when Dennis retired in 1998.

When not at work Steve loves his annual ski holiday, but most weekends he enjoys cycling; moving away from mountain biking on the beloved Cleveland hills to road biking during lockdown. "Most weekends involve some cycling, time with my lovely wife and trying to get the odd visit to see our daughter who works in Epsom and our son who works in Aberdeen - as you can see, they tried to get as far away from me as possible!".

Andy Briggs - Dennis Dixon

Andy Briggs, Operations Manager

Andy first came to DDL on secondment from Hoyer when they bought a 30% share in 1998. He joined as a DDL employee in 2012 to focus on driver recruitment, training and welfare, and SHEQ. Originally from Huddersfield, Andy gained a Master of Sciences from Hull University (sounds good, doesn’t it; it was in Geography, so if you want anything colouring in then Andy’s your man), where he also consolidated his football and snooker “skills”. Still busy with his school age children, Andy is kept busy on the school run, football, cricket and running on a weekend. Andy will happily hack round a golf course whenever he gets the chance and has an entertaining tale about getting airlifted from the Swiss ski slopes in early 2022. He recently became a DGSA to improve his knowledge and add skills to our team.

In my down time I enjoy spending time with my partner, and generally rescuing her from my cat, Sox. I also like looking after my vegetable plot and swimming."

David - Dennis Dixon Ltd

Dave Bowker

After completing my A/S levels in English, Geography and Maths, I came to Dennis Dixon Ltd on a Youth Training Scheme in 1997.

After a year of “training” with my peers, Dennis Dixon Ltd employed me on a full-time basis in September 1998.

The company have put me through various courses, including my 1st Aid at work, and I passed my CPC for Road Transport in 2006 and my DGSA certification recently. In my spare time I like to go for walks with my wife & our dog Benji, and I attend spinning classes 2-3 times a week. I’m also a big fan of football and can often be seen very happy on a Monday morning after my football team, Arsenal, win more often than they lose nowadays.
